The opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) has released its official timetable for the upcoming internal lower-level elections, as well as the much-anticipated National Delegates’ Convention scheduled for the 17thto the 18thof February, 2026.
According to a recent press release from the APC National Headquarters at Old Railway Line, the internal lower-level elections will commence on August 10, 2025, starting with ward elections. This follows the scheduled verification of voters and delegates’ lists on July 19, 2025, as outlined in the newly released timeline by the APC Secretariat.
The press release also details the schedule for the remaining lower-level elections, which will continue through January 2026.
In a statement to party supporters, APC National Secretary-General, Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to learning from past shortcomings as they gear up for the 2026 convention. Dumbuya highlighted that the party is undertaking serious reforms to strengthen its internal structures and ensure improved outcomes in future elections.
Reflecting on the party’s performance in the 2023 elections, Dumbuya assured supporters that key lessons have been learned and that such missteps will not be repeated in the lead-up to the pivotal 2028 general elections.
“The APC is working tirelessly behind the scenes to resolve internal issues and foster unity within the party,” he said, adding, “We are putting in place the necessary modalities to correct past mistakes and lay a solid foundation for the future.”
As one of the largest and most influential political parties in Sierra Leone and across Africa, the APC, he said, continues to enjoy widespread support nationwide. Dumbuya called on all party members and supporters to remain steadfast in the party’s vision and mission.
“We need to come together and speak with one voice. Unity is our strength, and only through collective effort can we bring about meaningful change. The current administration under the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has failed the people. It’s time for us to dismantle this broken system and restore hope to Sierra Leoneans,” he added.
As preparations intensify for the 2026 convention, the APC leadership has reiterated its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and accountability. These values, the party believes, are essential to reaffirming its position as a credible alternative to the ruling SLPP and a formidable force in Sierra Leone’s political landscape.
Dumbuya’s call for unity and proactive engagement signals the APC’s resolve to rebuild its political machinery and win back the confidence of the Sierra Leonean people. With its sights set firmly on the 2028 general elections, the APC is determined to present a renewed vision for national progress and prosperity.
