The Sudanese Ambassador to Senegal HE Abdelghani E.A Abdallah on Tuesday 29th April 2025 led a delegation to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Dakar where they announced the award of 22 under- graduate scholarship to Sierra Leonean students.

Announcing the scholarships, Vice Chancellor of the International University of Africa in Khartoum, Sudan Professor Hatim Osman M. Khair said with the re-established bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and Sudan, the two countries should forge beneficial ventures. He said the 22 scholarships offered are fully funded to study at the International University of Africa in different fields of medicine, engineering, agriculture and the humanities.

Professor Khair disclosed that there would be the possibility of an increase in the number especially for post graduate studies for this coming academic year. The International University of Africa is a public University in Khartoum, Sudan. It is a member of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World. The university has 22 faculties, 3 research centers and laboratories and admits students from 86 countries. Senegal currently has 200 students.
Sierra Leoneβs ambassador to Senegal HE Ibrahim Turay received the announcement warmly and spoke about how the offer would be beneficial to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bioβs Human Capital Development in general. He assured them it would be utilized judiciously and requested that the processes be expedited to get the qualified students prepared before the academic year starts in September.
