NRA Urges Private Sector Partners To Boost Revenue Collection

In a bid to implement one of the 21 Revenue Improvement measures – “Interface Integrated Trade Services (ITS) System with Asycuda World System”, the leadership of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) met with the leadership of the ITS, a service provider contracted by the government to partner with the NRA.

NRA’s effort to enhance collaboration on improving the efficiency and integrity of customs clearance procedures was key highlights of the meeting.

“It is important that NRA and the private sector focus on aligning our operational processes to ensure timely clearance, reduction of administrative bottlenecks, and reinforce institutional cooperation” the Commissioner-General, Jeneba J. Bangura encouraged.

Key areas of the discussion were focused on issuance and management of Classification Valuation Certificates (CVCs), forgeries, undervaluation and strategies to promote greater transparency, consistency, and accountability.

“We will commit to fostering our coordination to improve trade facilitation mechanisms in support of the national revenue objectives”, Albert Gulama, the Executive Director of ITS committed.

NRA will continue its efforts in stregehening revenue collection through engagement with key stakeholders.
