As part of fulfilling the criteria for the readiness phase of the REDD+ program for Sierra Leone, the Conservation Society of Sierra Leone (CSSL) has today supported the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in successfully facilitating the validation of the REDD+ Stakeholder Consultation and Engagement Plan. The activity, which was conducted at the Conference Room of the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone in Freetown, was part of an array of activities funded by the GCF and implemented by the FAO in Sierra Leone.
The meeting drew participants from state and non-state actors across the country including members of the fourth estate.
Participants carefully reviewed the Plan to capture critical aspects that would support the REDD+ process in the country.
The Plan was later validated through voting in a public display of hands to assure participants’ agreement about the document being fit for its intended purpose.
