As part of efforts to bolster national health security and border surveillance, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, through the National Public Health Emergency Management Agency, in partnership with the National Revenue Authority (NRA), conducted a two-day orientation and sensitization session for staff on the Mpox viral disease.

The engagement, held under the theme “Case Definition for Community-Based Surveillance of Mpox Viral Disease in Sierra Leone,” was designed to equip NRA personnels with critical knowledge on Mpox identification, prevention, and response protocols at various departments within the Authority
Through practical demonstrations and detailed briefings, participants were introduced to precautionary measures and reporting procedures, enabling them to better understand the nature of the disease and implement effective prevention strategies.

This inter-agency collaboration highlights the increasing synergy between the health ministry and NRA in securing Sierra Leone’s borders, protecting public health, and ultimately, safeguarding national revenue resources.
