The Public Affairs Manager at the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Osman F Koroma has, in an interview with The Exclusive, disclosed that the Trust will soon officially open the newly constructed Sewa Grounds Market situated within the Central Business District (CBD) of Freetown.
According to him, the Sewa Ground market facility can boast of 1544 open stalls, 170 upscale shops, 277 medium scale shops, 76 stores and 40 toilets abilities.
Mr. Koroma further noted that the new market is equipped with other state-of-art facility such Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, a standby generator and also two big water tanks, adding that there are also boreholes to provide continuous water supply to the two tanks and the entire market.
The NASSIT Public Affairs Manager furthered that the market was designed to generate revenue for the government so that NASSIT will be able to meet its obligations, adding that the new market will be managed by an independent body called Sierra Leone Estate Management Company (SLEMCO).

Big as it is, he said, the new market will still not solve all the problems faced by traders in terms of space but that it will significantly lessen the burden on government.
He concluded by pleading with the public to use the facility for its intended purpose.
