OGP Steering Committee Engages Its Memebrs On The National Action Plan V

House of Parliament , Sierra Leone – July 10, 2025:
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee convened on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Sierra Leone Parliament to discuss ongoing initiatives and strategize future activities under the country’s OGP framework.

In his opening remarks, Rev. Alusine Diamond-Suma, OGP Non-State Co-Chair for Sierra Leone and Country Director of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, expressed deep appreciation to both government and civil society members of the OGP Steering Committee for their resilience and dedication throughout the development of Sierra Leone’s National Action Plan V alongside with the government co chair, Mr. Joseph Bindi who also doubles as the Chairman of NaCCED.

Rev. Diamond-Suma reaffirmed his commitment to supporting open governance and enhancing citizen participation across democratic institutions such as ParlCSONet. He urged stakeholders to turn plans into tangible results:

“This new phase demands collective energy, practical steps, and measurable progress,” he emphasized.

Also addressing the gathering, Mr. Bosco N’habay, Acting Clerk of Parliament, applauded the Steering Committee for its ongoing efforts and achievements in driving the OGP agenda. He reiterated Parliament’s commitment to promoting transparency, good governance, and democratic accountability.

Representatives from various civil society organizations also participated in the engagement, reaffirming their commitment to advancing the principles of openness and democratic reform.

The Open Government Partnership is a global initiative that brings together reformers from within and outside of government to promote transparency, empower citizens, combat corruption, and leverage technology to improve governance. Since joining in 2013, Sierra Leone has utilized the OGP platform to implement critical reforms and strengthen trust between the state and its citizens.

As Rev. Diamond-Suma takes on his new leadership role within the OGP framework, stakeholders remain optimistic that his guidance will bring renewed energy to the process, deepen collaboration, and ensure reforms.
