…On The Draft National Data Strategy

The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI) hosted a Focus Group Discussion on Sierra Leone’s draft National Data Governance Strategy.

The discussion brought together voices from across government, civil society, academia, tech, media, and the private sector, all focused on how to govern data in a way that protects citizens, empowers institutions, and drives national development. The session was a space for listening, learning, on how data should be handled, used, and safeguarded across our public systems.

As Sierra Leone continues to invest in digital transformation, this strategy will serve as a foundation, helping ensure that our growing digital systems are people-centered, ethical, and effective.

The Ministry extends thanks to everyone who showed up, shared ideas, and challenged assumptions. The work of building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready data ecosystem is a collective one, and today was an important step forward.
