The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI) Last week proudly hosted the 2nd Edition of the Sierra Leone Innovates Digital Government Summit. According to the Minister, Salima Monorma Bah, it is the ministry’s flagship annual event showcasing the power of homegrown innovation and bold digital leadership.


“From groundbreaking announcements to inspiring stories of impact, here are just a few highlights: 6,000+ applied; 1,000+ participants selected nationwide it was a true national gathering of innovators and change makers,” she informed.
“Fireside Chat with H.E. the President, highlighting how his visionary leadership has laid the foundation for our digital transformation through the establishment of bold reforms, strong institutions, and strategic partnerships,” the Minister informed on her Facebook page.


The Minister furthered: “Delivery of the Mid-Term Report of NIDS, demonstrating measurable progress made over 5+ years in advancing Digital Government, Digital Economy, and Digital Identity. Launch of West Africa’s first 5G Open Access Network right here in Sierra Leone!
Inta School EduCube Debate: A pupil from Lorenzo Gorvie Memorial Secondary School won a fully equipped digital lab for his school in Waterloo.”


Innovation Awards, she said, celebrated the outstanding innovators, institutions, and digital solutions that have transformed lives in 2024.
She gave futher details: “Final of the Big 5 Innovation Investment Challenge: All 5 finalists will travel to the Republic of Korea for networking opportunities, with the top 3 receiving a total of Le1.8 million in funding and accelerator mentorship.
Dynamic panel discussions tackled critical issues like content monetization and digital equity. Inspiring tech talks showcased the journeys of innovators, public servants, and creatives and shaping Sierra Leone’s digital future.
