Lungi Power Development Construct Six Houses In Madina Town

The Lungi Power Development (LPD) on Sunday, 16thAugust, 2025, laid the foundation stone and turned the sod for the construction of six houses for victims of the Madina storm disaster.
It could be recalled that some residents of Madina Town in the Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom Port Loko District were hit by heavy storms, causing many homeless and some hospitalised.
However, through corporate social responsibility, LPD intervened since the disaster hit Madina and provided medical and belief support to victims.
During the block laying ceremony, the Resident Minister of Northwest Region, Ambassador Dr. Umaru Bond Wurie thanked the Paramount Chief of Kaffu Bullom Hon P.C. Bai Shebora Shaba Gbereh III for his relentless efforts and support towards those who were affected by the disaster. He recalled that 16 of the victims were in critical situations and immediately admitted for medical attention through the immediate intervention of the Hon. Paramount Chief with support from LPD and other stakeholders. He used the opportunity to extend appreciation to all stakeholders for their support to humanity.

The Resident Minister noted that the Disaster Management should have taken the responsibility to construct the six houses, but LPD, a renewable solar energy company, is complementing government effort in that direction. Ambassador Bon Wurie underscored the effort of President Bio and his Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, for bringingsuch a development for the people of Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom.
The Resident Minister used the opportunity to allege that one Mr. Conteh used to micromanage LPD and also embezzled a lot of funding meant for land owners and other stakeholders. He commended the leadership of the current management led by Managing director Mr AR Suntan and Head of operations, Mr. Ricardo. According to him, the current management, through their CSR have demonstrated that they are ready to support the people of Sierra Leone and also promote development.* He said the construction of the six houses worth thousands of Leones and noted that LPD is working in consonance with the national development. The Resident Minister assured the people of government transformation on sustainable electricity in the country and also urged LPD to commence operation of electrification of Kaffu Bullom. He stated that they, as the government, would not tolerate fake investors in the country. On his part, the Hon. Paramount urged the people of Madina Town to embrace unity, peace, and development. He noted that the construction of the six houses should be embraced by the people. He reflected on the wisdom of the President for earmarked Lungi for the airport and planning to provide solar electrification for his Chiefdom. He stated that they, as Chiefdom, would promote the development project. He expressed appreciation to the current leadership of LPD. According to him, the landowners never requested a dim from the LDP under the leadership of one Mr. AssanaConte . Over five years, he stated the past administration of LPD under Mr. Konteh caused the landowners to withdraw their land document.


Hon.ShiekhKargbo, representing Port Loko, denounced the stagnation of LPD under the former head, Mr. Hassan Conteh and thanked those who are now in charge. He used the opportunity to call on colleague MPs and the President to encourage LPD.
The Leader of Opposition commended LPD for their immediate intervention of the victims of the storm disaster and encouraged other state personalities to visit the scene of the disaster and current intervention of LPD. He used the opportunity to call on the Speaker of Parliament to visit the project.
He noted that the delay of the project is a national threat and called on all and sundry to support the current management of LPD.
