NPRA Boss Shines In Japan

The Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma has taken part in this year’s TIDCA 2025 conference which was held in Yokohama, Japan.
The conference featured over 200 experts from Africa and other continents who gathered In Japan to discuss the future plans and preparations for the petroleum sector for 2025.
Whilst in Japan, theNPRA, Director General, Brima Baluwa Koroma was involved in several activities and event including round table discussions and also made other presentations with Professionals and Experts.
Key Highlights from the Director General’s panel discussions at the TIDCA 2025 conference in Yokohama, Japan includes the opening of a new company to help government raise revenue, noting that the “The establishment of the Sierra Petroleum Company will serve as a trading outlet for the government. “
The NPRA Boss also noted that “The downstream industry is not only a compelling place for investment; but we are also actively dismantling bureaucracy and barriers that stifle investment. “He added:“The expectation is to promote scale and sustainability for the development of a strong and vibrant industry in harmony with government objectives.”
Furthermore, the NPRA, Director General, spoke on the mandate and functions of the Authority which, he noted, is to determine and monitor ceilings on the price of petroleum products, including diesels, gasoline, kerosene, and oil in accordance with prescribed petroleum pricing formula in consultations with the Minister.
He also noted that the law states that petroleum services providers shall not misapply the prescribed petroleum pricing formula to results in an overcharged of a petroleum product for a consumer.
