The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has decided to take a drastici nation-wide tough action against individuals and institutions that have not made payment of water bills; owing the company. Figures indicate that more people and institutions owe SALWACO, resulting in low non-payment of water bills, something that has the potential to negatively impact institutional productivity and challenge appreciable cash flow.
As a way to address the persistent challenge, the leadership of SALWACO has assured disconnection and robust revenue collection.
Managing Director of SALWACO, Ing. George Lamin Vandi who’s spearheading this drive said that all individuals and institutions that owe the company should be brought to book and be made to pay in accordance with the Company’s policies. Earlier, letters were distributed to such individuals and institutions and to see that all debts are fully paid and in time.
In its last general retreat themed ‘Revenue Generation for Sustainable Development,’ the company discussed strategic management and debt collection strategies among other things to ensure that resources are adequately mobilized and in the best interest of the institution.
A move of this nature is result-driven; ignited as a result of the need to achieve institutional aims and aspirations.
If all individuals and institutions are able and willing to fully pay all SALWACO debts, the company would have achieved a great phase of financial independence.
To fully implement the debt collection strategies, the SALWACO leadership has mandated all employees to embark on robust revenue collection and marketing plus stakeholder engagement with a view to ensuring that the problem of debtors is minimized, if not totally eradicated.
