Impeccable sources from Police headquarters have disclosed advertisements for promotions after payment for the new ranks commences at the end of this April 2025.
According to the sources, the Executive Management Board and the Police Council put on hold promotions due to the delay in approval of salaries for the new ranks which were introduced in the 2021 mass promotions.
The sources continued that after a marathon of engagements with government, the SLP received an official correspondence from Ministry of finance last month, notifying that payment for the new ranks will take effect at the end of April 2025.
It could be recalled that in several of his engagement with personnel, IGP William Fayia Sellu has always responded to their concerns on promotions with payment for the new ranks being obstacle.
“Now that payment for the new ranks will start at the end of this April, we are expecting advertisement for promotions to follow” the Source added.
The public would recalled that in 2021, the SLP reintroduced ranks including Corporal, Sergeant Major, Sub-Inspector, Chief- Inspector, Assistant Commissioner and Commissioner among others which saw over four thousand (4000) officers prompted to various ranks.
Meanwhile, the IGP during his nationwide awareness campaign on the SLP transformation from Force to Service confirmed that government has also approved for the recruitment of one thousand (1000) personnel in this 2025.
The recruitment he said will be done in two phases with 500 to be recruited in each phase.
Advertisements for recruitment is also expected to commence soon.
In another development, the National Headquarters of the SLP which host the office of the IGP, DIG and other Directors is under rehabilitation.
As a result the offices of the IGP and the DIG have been temporarily relocated to the Senior Officers Mess at Kingtom Police Barracks.
