APC Plans Nationwide Tour

The National Executive of the opposition All Peoples’ Congress (APC) party will embark on a nationwide district-level tour beginning April 21, 2025. The tour is aimed at resolving issues surrounding the party’s ongoing membership registration and verification exercise, while also reconciling party members ahead of the upcoming National Delegates’ Convention (NDC).
According to a press release from the APC Secretariat, the first phase of the tour will commence in the South-East Region, where district chairpersons, district executive committees, APC members, and supporters are required to participate.
The party’s National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq. emphasized that the membership registration and verification process will run concurrently with an internal reconciliation initiative. The tour, he said, will help reinforce unity and solidarity within the party and encourage members to take a holistic view of prevailing issues.
He further stated that the tour is a timely and strategic move for the APC, especially in light of internal disunity, even among party-affiliated blogger; some of whom, he claimed, prioritize personal interests over the party’s collective goals.
Meanwhile, some critical APC stakeholders have called on party members to refrain from actions that could tarnish the party’s image and to instead uphold the values of unity and solidarity that define the APC’s political philosophy.
These stakeholders also dismissed ongoing attempts by certain factions within the party to sow discord. They reiterated their commitment to maintaining unity and urged the national leadership to strengthen internal democracy and reinforce party structures to sustain political relevance.
They reaffirmed their unwavering support for former presidential candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara and Alhaji Abu Bakarr Sam Sumana, and encouraged both leaders to play key roles in addressing the party’s current challenges. During the tour, the party leadership will also clarify that there is no rift between the current leadership and Dr. Kamara.
According to the APC National Secretary, the tour will serve as a platform to engage directly with grassroots members to better understand their prospects and challenges. By implementing these measures, the APC aims to reposition itself for future electoral success and assume a more constructive role in national politics.
Central to the party’s agenda is a comprehensive review of the Agreement for National Unity document. The APC has pledged to implement key recommendations from the Tripartite Committee on Electoral Management, Institutional, and Legal Reforms.
To ensure a more structured electoral process, the party has introduced new timelines: membership registration will now begin one year before the NDC, followed by primary elections the following year.
In line with the digital age, the APC has also committed to training party-affiliated bloggers on responsible and constructive communication, as part of broader efforts to improve internal cohesion and public messaging.
The APC reiterated its call for unity and collective action as it strives to rebuild the party and tackle the challenges ahead.
