-Dr Ibrahim Bangura Insists
The leading flagbearer aspirant of the main opposition, All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr Ibrahim Bangura has, during an evening event held on Friday, 2nd August, 2025, at his Wilberforce offices in Freetown, told party supporters dubbed as DIB Ladies 4 Change that his party will constitute the next government, come 2028.
According to some quarters, Dr Ibrahim Banguraβs statement does not only resonate the reality, but also reaffirms the truth.
The need to maintain peace and stability in the run up to, and post 2028 general elections cannot be overemphasised, given the current toxicity of the countryβs politics with the violent posture sometimes exhibited by the ruling government.
The academic giant-cum-politician noted that with the people the ruling Sierra Leone Peopleβs Party (SLPP) recently elected as national officers, the APC should demonstrate to Sierra Leoneans that they are the better party by the leadership they are going to elect next year.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura further informed DIB Ladies 4 Change that Sierra Leone needs a leader who is level-headed and decisiveto take this country on the path of progress.
With his level of credibility both at community and international levels and his experience, whether through engagement with ex-combatants in Sierra Leone or in guiding electoral violence prevention across Africa and beyond, Dr Bangura understands how to achieve peace, justice, and institutional reforms. His candidacy is therefore not a gamble, but a synthesis of technical acumen, ethical leadership, enduring trust, and the capacity to lead and deliver for Sierra Leone.
It goes without saying that Dr Ibrahim Bangura is a symbol of Sierra Leoneβs unrealized promise that oozes with the potential of a statesman determined to heal, unite, and build for better.
Political pundits and a good number of Sierra Leoneans are therefore urging the APC delegates to elect Dr Ibrahim Bangura as flagbearer in order to liberate the APC and reposition the country for progress as, according to them, he has won plaudits from many quarters, and his ability to interact with people plays into her hands as he continues to ride on the crest of a wave that has propelled him as one of the best politicians the APC can pride itself in.
