As Lower-Level Elections Conclude… Prince Harding Clears The Air

The former Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, who is also the current Commissioner of the National Commission for Privatisation, Dr. Prince Alexander Harding has said in Freetown that the just concluded lower-level election in Bo could have been better if he had the support and corporation of all stakeholders to the process.
Dr. Harding was responding to allegations that he was responsible for the chaos that characterized the said election. Observers in Bo have attributed the chaotic behavior by some of the ill-advised delegates as an act of indiscipline.
Dr Harding said, “to attempt to suggest that I deliberately undermined an electoral process which I created, is most dishonest. I have made it clear that I was not a delegate and that my respected position as Chairman of this party, at the time, puts me in the position whereby, I will set the necessary bright example for others to follow.”
Dr. Harding yesterday insisted that his love for the SLPP and his dedication to the party structure will not allow him to aid any act that is against the aspirations of the SLPP.
He concluded that some people may wish to undermine his authority, while serving as Chairman of the SLPP, in an effort to put him in bad light for the public to disrespect what he stands for. “From the days of President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah after the immediate restoration of democracy to date, I have spent my time and energy to ensure that the SLPP is presented as a respectable political party and I will therefore frown at anybody who disrespects our noble party. The mistakes that occurred have been corrected and the SLPP continues to stand firm especially with the cooperation and support of His Excellency the President, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio.”
The former SLPP Chairman has been largely described as one of the dedicated personalities of the party who will never wish SLPP to undergo any crisis.
