Bar Association Enrols Members into the NASSIT Scheme

The Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), on Friday, 11th July 2025, facilitated the enrollment of private legal practitioners into the NASSIT Scheme at the NASSIT’s West Region Office, Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown.

Speaking during the event, Alfred Kamanda ESQ, the Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, stated that the exercise was a culmination of a series of engagements with the leadership of the SLBA and NASSIT, borne out of the desire of the President of the Bar Association, Madam

Adama Gento Kamara, to not only accomplish a manifesto commitment but to also create a platform that would protect private legal practitioners against the vicissitudes of life. Kamanda said that the exercise was the actualisation of a process that would guarantee the extension of Social Protection to Lawyers in private practice.
On his part, the Secretary General of the Bar Association expressed his delight and satisfaction at the attainment of such a welfare project. Alfred Paul Juwah Esq encouraged practitioners to take full advantage of this groundbreaking effort to better not only themselves but their defendants, assuring them of the commitment of the President and her administration to improving the Bar, promoting social justice, enhancing transparency and the well-being of its members.

Speaking on behalf of the Director General, the Head of Public Affairs and Event Management of NASSIT, Mohamed Bangalie, congratulated the President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, the Executive and the general membership on such a milestone achievement.

Mohamed Bangalie narrated that Social security is not just a human right but is also extremely crucial for the well-being of private legal practitioners.
According to the NASSIT Head of Public Affairs, Social Security provides financial security during retirement, invalidity, or after death, offering a safety net often absent in the independent practice of the law.

He assured them of NASSIT’s commitment to providing a seamless platform for the extension of social protection to society which, according to Mohamed Bangalie, is the pride of the Director General.

NASSIT, We care.
