Clean Sweep For Hon. Manso Dumbuya

As the election for the Western Regional Chairmanship of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) materializes this Thursday, 19th June, 2025, incumbent Chairman Hon. Manso Dumbuya has reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the party and its vision for a prosperous Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.
In a recent interview, Dumbuya articulated his stance on party loyalty and accountability, particularly addressing fellow contender, Chief Hindolo Moseray, and the party’s dedicated supporters.
Hon. Dumbuya also emphasized that loyalty to the SLPP must translate into tangible support for its operations and initiatives.
Dumbuya took this opportunity to critique Moseray, openly advising him to settle an outstanding debt to the party that has accumulated over approximately four years.

The incumbent chairman’s remarks shed light on a broader issue within the party: the importance of accountability among its members.
During this interview, Hon. Manso Dumbuya continued influence as the Western Regional Chairman plays a critical role in shaping the party’s future. While some younger members may seek new leadership, there are compelling arguments for why Dumbuya’s reelection is essential, particularly given his wealth of experience and understanding of Sierra Leone’s complex political environment.
Wealth of Experience
Hon. Manso Dumbuya’s political career spans many years, during which he has navigated the often tumultuous waters of Sierra Leonean politics. His extensive experience provides him with a nuanced understanding of the political dynamics at play, making him uniquely positioned to guide the SLPP through challenging times. The past few decades in Sierra Leone have been marked by significant upheaval, including civil war, economic challenges, and shifting political alliances. Dumbuya’s experience allows him to draw from historical contexts to inform current strategies, ensuring that the party remains grounded and focused.
Institutional Knowledge

In political parties, institutional knowledge is invaluable. Dumbuya has built strong relationships within and outside the party, making him a crucial bridge between different factions and interest groups. His familiarity with the party’s internal mechanisms, as well as with government processes, allows him to operate effectively within the political framework. This knowledge is essential for mentoring younger members and preparing them for leadership roles in the future. By keeping Dumbuya in a leadership position, the party can harness his expertise while simultaneously cultivating the next generation of leaders.
Stability in Leadership
The political environment leading up to the 2028 elections is expected to be particularly volatile. Given the recent trends of political polarization and public discontent, stability in leadership becomes paramount. Dumbuya’s seasoned approach is likely to foster a sense of continuity and security, reassuring party members and supporters alike. In times of uncertainty, having a steady hand at the helm can help to unify party members and maintain focus on core objectives, reducing the likelihood of factionalism.
