Deputy Minister of Energy II,Dr. Rahim Jalloh, has inspected the Bo-Kenema Network Rehabilitation and Expansion Project to have a firsthand assessment of the status of the project.

The Bo-Kenema Network Rehabilitation and Expansion Project seeks to make improvements on transmission and distribution lines in the two cities, expand or increase access to quality and reliable electricity to 12 communities between the two cities, and cater for emerging or unserved communities within the two cities.

Dr. Rahim said he was satisfied with the status of the project and the progress that contractors had made, noting that His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio will,in the not too distant future,be in Bo and Kenema to commission the project.

He said with what he had seen on the ground,he was confident the project would be completed within the next couple of months.
“I will be furnishing my boss,Dr. Yumkella with the outcome of my assessment visit or inspection tour. There are still a few Is to dot and Ts to cross before the commissioning of the project by His Excellency. This project will be massively strategic,” he noted.
He concluded by saying that the project, which is funded by the FCDO and the African Development Bank,AfDB,would positively impact the quality and reliability of electricity supply in the two districts and would enable citizens massively enjoy the CLSG electricity.
In another development, Dr. Rahim visited the Bo Power Station where he held discussions with engineers with respect to recent challenges posed to the supply of electricity to Bo and Kenema as a result of some tripping occasioned by thunderstorms.
With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked, reforms continue in the sector.
