The Leading aspirant vying for the position of flagbearer of the main opposition, All Peoples Congress (APC) party, Dr Ibrahim Bangura has recently outlined his visions, dreams and aspirations for the main opposition party and the country.
In an interview with an online television channel, Dr Ibrahim Bangura stated his position on how he wants to see the APC and Sierra Leone in terms of growth and development, while shedding light on what is expected of the party’s forthcoming internal elections that will see the election of a flagbearer in the upcoming 2026 APC National Delegates Convention (NDC).
The leading APC flagbearer aspirant also spoke about some of the current socio-economic conditions across the country including youth unemployment and rise in drug abuse.
During the interview, the APC flagbearer aspirant also gave a brief background about his political journey and childhood upbringing in the central part of Freetown.
He also gave a profile of his academic and professional life, adding that in his whole life he has been working tirelessly for the growth and development of the APC party.
According to Dr Ibrahim Bangura, he did not join APC but was born APC, noting that he had spent all of his life supporting and fighting for the good course of APC.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura further revealed that he had done lots of successful work for the APC and also contributed immensely to the creation of the new 2022 APC Constitution, adding that he wants to improve on those previous successes, the more reason he is vying for the party’s flagbearer position.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura stated that he started his political career at an early age by organizing political seminars and debates for first time voters and also organized political lectures for university students to help shape the ideologies of the APC, adding that with those activities he is now looking forward to reshaping and repositioning the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.
He furthered that he helped to reduce tension in the party after the APC lost the 2018 general elections to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), adding that he also served as Peace Ambassador whenever the party was faced with internal wrangling.
On rumors doing the rounds that he had been handpicked by the former President and Chairman of the APC, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma for the position, the dynamic aspirant, Dr Ibrahim Bangura denied such rumors and emphasized that he is not being handpicked by Ernest Bai Koroma nor has he ever visited him in Nigeria for personal blessings for the flagbearer race.
However, he noted that he would very much like the support of the former Chairman as, according to him, every support is a blessing for him. He also revealed his personal love and support for the former APC Chairman and Leader.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura also used the interview to remove the lid over what he considered as unfound and baseless reports that he is in love with one of Ernest Bai Koroma’s daughters, stressing that he has never seen the said daughter and also has no love relationship with her. He pointed out that the daughters of the former President are his sisters therefore there is nolove relationship between them.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura maintained that he is entering into the race for the flagbearer position personally because he is competent and has requisite knowledge to fix the problems of the country.
