The momentum surrounding Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s homecoming has been exceptional throughout the entire Kambia District.
Reports coming from the home of the leading main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant indicate that there have been sleepless nights for residents in the entire Kambia District in preparation for their son of the soil.
Reports have it that, the posters of Dr. Ibrahim Bangura have been erected across the entiredistrict in readiness for his arrival.
Apart from beautifyingevery nook and cranny of towns and villagesacross the district with gigantic beautiful posters of Dr. Bangura, there are also preparations of almost all traditional entertainment groups in readiness to grace the historic home coming of the leading flagbearer aspirant.
According to Kambia sources, the youth, elderly people, the disabled and traditional leaders are all reportedly anxiously waiting to welcome one of their respectable and loving sons of the district.
The visit, according to political analysts, is going to be a turning point for Dr. Ibrahim Bangura’s political journey.
According to some of the residents in the district who spoke to this medium, some of the former APC flagbearer aspirants in the previous elections are also being spotted galvanizing support for Dr. Ibrahim Bangura.
They opined that of all the visits Dr. Ibrahim Bangura have made to other parts of the country in recent times, Kambia District’s visit is going to be a unique one, for not only his campaign team but also for the people of Kambia district.
The riverine communities of Kambia including wharf villages are all set to celebrate with Dr. Bangura with dozens of masquerades and other society groups.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura is a young man in his mid-40s. He was born in the central part of Freetown to the first National Secretary General of the APC National Youth League and a former APC National Organizing Secretary, Senior Comrade M.L. Bangura from Mambolo Chiefdom, Kambia District.
He attended the Government Rokel and St. Edward’s Secondary Schools in Freetown before proceeding to the FBC where he obtained his first degree and first Master’s degree. He furthered his education in many renowned academic institutions abroad where he also obtained another Master’s degree, PhD and other academic certificates. He is currently an Associate Professor.
As one of the DNA’s of the APC, he formed a political group called the Rising Sun during his school days. At Fourah Bay College, Dr. Bangura formed the APC Students Association, now called NUAS and became its first President, who later handed over to President Momoh Bangura, and the leadership line continued to Felix, BTK and others.
Dr. Ibrahim Bangura did not serve in the last APC government and has not held any party position, but he has been supportive to the APC both financially and in preparing campaign strategies and the Party Manifestoes for both 2018 and 2023.
