-Dr Ibrahim Bangura Tells Sierra Leoneans In London
Leading aspirant for the 2028 presidential flagbearer position of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr. Ibrahim Bangura recently held an impactful public meeting in London where he delivered a confident address to members and supporters of the APC in that part of the globe.
This outreach event is part of a broader effort to reinforce unity and readiness of the APC diaspora branches.
During the engagement, Dr. Bangura, whose popularity continues to grow both at home and abroad, consistently emphasized the need for collaboration and discipline among the party members and the country at large by stating that: “If we unite, we win and if we divide, we fall.”
At the London meeting, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura spoke about his dreams, aspirations and vision to develop the country, adding that, “every APC comrade is my brother and sister and no one should insult another because of me.”
He also used the London meeting to explain some of his short, medium, and long term strategies stating that: “If I become the party’s leader in 2026, I will make space for all, including my opponents, because the work ahead is bigger than my ego.”
Dr. Ibrahim Bangura also stated among other things that: “My campaign is not built on insults. It is built on ideas and if you have ideas, bring them forward. I will tell you that what Sierra Leone needs now is not noise, not division, but vision,” adding “I believe in a politics that uplifts, not one that destroys. The process is more important than the outcome and if we keep it honest, inclusive, and respectful, then no matter who wins, the party wins, and the people win.”
The young vibrant academic and social personality, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura also told the London gathering that: “At the end of the day, only one person will win, but how we treat each other on the journey matters more than any title. Let us not sacrifice our unity for ambition,” he stated.
Furthermore, the APC 2028 presidential aspirant noted that: “This is a time to heal the party, to unite the people, and to build a future that reflects the best values not the worst instincts.”
Dr. Ibrahim Bangura stood before his people and planted the facts, row by row. “I didn’t join the APC,” he said with a half-smile, “I was born into it.”
“I am ready to serve, to listen, and to lead with humility, discipline, and integrity. I am not here to divide. I am here to build,” he proudly stated.
He continues his address by saying that, “let us not forget that when the party was pushed into political darkness, those who had dined with the APC fled when the music stopped. But not me, adding that while others were washing their hands clean of red, he was rolling up his sleeves.
While giving a brief background on his political profile, the APC 2028 flagbearer aspirant spoke about his upbringing in the central part of Freetown disclosing that, ‘ My birth is rooted in the legacy and cultivated in loyalty to the APC. My father, who is a pillar of the Youth League, rose to become the Organizing Secretary of the party.
“I did not come from Buckingham Palace. I came from humble beginnings. I grew up in Sierra Leone, where daily life often meant facing struggle head-on,” Says’ Dr Ibrahim Bangura.
Dr. Ibrahim Bangura also stated that, the party’s office at Pademba Road then became more than a stronghold; it became the backdrop where love blossomed. It was there my father met my mother and they gave birth to me,” he disclosed.
“At the age of 15, when most boys were chasing footballs and fantasies, I was forming “The Rising Sun” a movement of young minds, the children of the APC, committed to carrying the torch. By 2000, I was in university, establishing and leading the APC’s Student Movement.
I invited then-candidate Ernest Bai Koroma to Fourah Bay College in 2002 to campaign among the youth. Candidate Ernest Koroma would become president in 2007. But unlike others who lined up to collect rewards, I, Ibrahim Bangura chose a different path and left to further my studies, sharpening the tools I would later use in service of the APC and the nation.
In 2018, when the party faced the bitter taste of electoral loss, I didn’t run from the fire, I walked into it and had to choose between personal ambition and party peace. I chose peace,” he further revealed.
“With the wisdom of a mediator and the integrity of a patriot, I helped mend the breach. No shouting. No showboating. Just service since then, I have been a tireless contributor, serving on APC Constitutional Review Committee, the Manifesto Committee, and strategic platforms ahead of both the 2018 and 2023 elections. The ink of my fingerprints is on the party’s very playbook.
He called on Sierra Leoneans and other APC members in London to stay focus, united as one Sierra Leone and one APC, noting that the party membership should frown at bad people coming with hate speech as the APC must heal, unite and build for a successful 2028 general elections.
“When they spew out hate, show them love. My story is not wrapped in privilege, but in perseverance and the strength of rising from challenges most people only read about. Every step I’ve taken has been shaped by that reality. There is only one APC. Let us all support the party structures, for a better and stronger APC,” Dr. Ibrahim Bangura told the London gathering in conclusion.
