-Dr Ibrahim Bangura Appeals In London
Dr Ibrahim Bangura, The Leading Flagbearer and one of the most dynamic and rising figures within the opposition All People’s Congress (APC), has delivered a landmark speech in London that has since reverberated across the APC diaspora and the political landscape of Sierra Leone.
Speaking with passion and clarity at a major town hall meeting organized by the Seagull Union and other Sierra Leonean groups in the United Kingdom, Dr Bangura made a solemn and far-reaching call: “The APC must unite, and Sierra Leone must heal.”

With hundreds in attendance, Dr Bangura did not just speak as a politician, but as a son of the APC, a committed comrade, and a servant of the people. He began by paying homage to the UK branch of the APC, praising their continued efforts in keeping the party’s flame burning abroad. But more importantly, he called on every member of the party home and abroad to look beyond personal interests and re-imagine a political culture built on collective responsibility, party discipline, and national interest.
Dr Bangura offered a rare blend of personal testimony and political vision. He reflected on his humble beginnings in Mambolo, Kambia District, recalling the pain of losing his mother at a young age to breast cancer and the unwavering political convictions of his father, who stood firm with the APC even during difficult times. These experiences, he explained, are the foundation of his resilience and loyalty to the party.
He spoke about his early days as a student activist, when he registered the APC at Fourah Bay College at a time when the party had almost no presence on university campuses. His journey, he said, has been driven not by personal gains, but by a purpose, by a deep sense of responsibility to help rebuild the party.
“Let’s Unite APC and Sierra Leone,” Dr Ibrahim Bangura rallies Support in London”
Throughout his address, Dr Bangura emphasized unity as the central ingredient for success. He warned that unless the APC heals from within, it cannot credibly seek to govern the nation. He called for maturity, respect for party structures, and a culture of cooperation among aspirants and stakeholders. He declared that if he emerged victorious in the flagbearer race, he would dedicate himself to uniting the party. But if he does not, he would equally support the chosen leader and work for the party’s victory in 2028.
In his words, leadership is not about entitlement but about selflessness, humility, and commitment. He stressed that APC politics must move beyond the obsession with personalities and toward a focus on institutional strength, party values, and service delivery. His message to party bloggers and influencers was clear ‘stop tearing down your comrades and start building the party.’
Dr Bangura extended his call for unity to the national level. He lamented the deepening divisions across Sierra Leone along ethnic and regional lines. He called for a new political culture that rejects the demonization of past governments and embraces constructive continuity. He criticized the weaponization of political narratives and urged Sierra Leoneans to focus on common goals such as peace, economic growth, and social justice.
Dr. Bangura addressed the frustration of young people, the marginalization of women, and the shrinking of civic space. He pointed out the widespread unemployment and the emotional and economic struggles facing millions of Sierra Leoneans. Dr Bangura stressed the need for inclusive governance, policy continuity, and open political spaces where all citizens, regardless of gender or background, can participate meaningfully.
He warned that the APC must evolve, modernize, and reflect the needs of the people. Without strong party discipline, unity, and renewed focus on grassroots engagement, the APC risks repeating its past mistakes. He made it clear that loyalty to the party should not be manipulated to silence critical voices or suppress internal democracy.
In a powerful and emotional moment, Dr Bangura assured the audience that he is not afraid to face challenges or criticism. He acknowledged that leadership comes with sacrifice and declared that he is prepared to lead with dignity, honesty, and respect for every member of the APC family. He promised to return later in the year for deeper engagement with the diaspora and to build a bridge between APC members at home and abroad.
As he closed his speech, he offered a prayer to God for guidance and reaffirmed his faith in the APC and Sierra Leone. He spoke not as a man seeking power for power’s sake, but as a leader with vision, history, and unwavering commitment. He called on all Sierra Leoneans to rise above pettiness and embrace unity for the sake of a better tomorrow.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura’s London visit has now become a symbol of a new chapter, a chapter where unity, integrity, and people-centered leadership become the rallying cry for APC’s return and Sierra Leone’s future.
