…Female Suspect Arrested

On 17th July, 2025 in a significant operation to combat drug trafficking, customs officials and other border agencies at the Jendema Border Crossing Point between Sierra Leone and Liberia successfully apprehended a female traveler suspected of smuggling illegal substances.
The suspect, identified as Hawa Conteh, was traveling to Monrovia when authorities conducted an intensive search of her belongings. During the inspection, officials discovered 40 packets, each weighing one kilogram, containing dried leaves believed to be Cannabis Sativa, along with two plastic bags filled with cannabis seeds.
Following her arrest, Conteh and the seized evidence were promptly handed over to the Mano River Police Division for further investigation.
This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of Customs and other Border Agencies to maintain vigilance and ensure the integrity of the border. Mujiru I.I. Kallon, Manager- Customs at Jendema and Head of Joint Border Operations for Sierra Leone expressed his gratitude to the security sector and all individuals involved in these efforts, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in safeguarding the region from illegal activities.

Mr. Kallon ended by stating that the authorities will continue to enhance their monitoring and enforcement strategies while remaining dedicated to protecting the community and curbing drug trafficking across borders.
