NPRA Wins Award

…For Excellence Service Delivery

The Sierra Leone’s Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has at its recent hand- over ceremony held at the Bintumani Conference Hall awarded the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA) for its continued excellence service delivery in the Downstream Petroleum Sector in the last six years.
At the hand-over ceremony, the erstwhile president of the Sierra Leone’s Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed SahidNasralla applauded the current the Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA) , Brima Baluwa Koroma and his committed team for being very transparent and open up in responding to critical concerns raised by journalists, media practitioners, bloggers and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at their quarterly press conferences. He noted that Baluwa Koroma is always open up to objective and constructive dialogue with journalists which enhances the Print and Electronic Media for Ethical and Development Journalism.
Presenting the distinctive award to the management and staff of NPRA on behalf of the new leadership at SLAJ, Abu Bakar Kargbo ( FaddaBakish) , a very senior and experienced journalist of SLAJ lauded the Director General and his team for their excellent service delivery and the unprecedented reforms they are implementing in a very critical and volatile industry , noting that the new leadership of SLAJ is equally open up to NPRA and other MDAs for constructive engagement that will bolster the Media Landscape in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Authority, the Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma expressed excitements about the strategic recognition from the Sierra Leone’s Association of Journalists (SLAJ) on the successive deliverables of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) formerly and the new mandates with enormous power under the Authority.
The Director General said with utmost seriousness that the award is very much timely and it serves as means to motivate and redouble the Authority’s efforts under the new mandates which is the people’s centered policy enshrined in the new NPRA’s Act of 2025.
“This excellence service delivery award is dedicated to His Excellency, Retired Brigadier President Julius Maada Bio, the Government of Sierra Leone and the entire management and staff of the NPRA. The policies of this government are what the market is positively responding to and with the continued supports from the presidency and the Government of Sierra Leone, my team will continue to stabilize and cushion the perennial problems within the industry. I am very much grateful to journalists, bloggers and CSOs for their sustained commitments and unwavering supports while transitioning from PRA to NPRA. I’m appealing to every journalist across the country to embark on Development Journalism which is very healthy for national interest” Baluwa Koroma appealed.
