The House of Parliament has today unanimously approved the newly appointed Minister of Youth Affairs, Honourable Ibrahim Sannoh.
On Tuesday, 8th April 2025, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio appointed Honourable Ibrahim Sannoh as the Minister of Youth Affairs, entrusting him with the critical responsibility of formulating and implementing policies and programmes aimed at youth empowerment and inclusive participation in national development. His mandate includes fostering the growth, creativity, and full potential of Sierra Leone’s youth, enabling them to play active roles in decision-making processes.
Born in Bo City, Southern Province of Sierra Leone, to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Sannoh, Honourable Sannoh began his academic journey at Saint Francis Primary School and later attended Bo Government Secondary School (commonly known as The Bo School). There, he served as Senior Prefect and completed his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2006 with distinction, earning him the nickname “S.P. Sannoh.”
Affectionately known as “S.P Sannoh,” he proceeded to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Political Science.
During his time at the university, he was actively involved in student leadership, notably serving as Head of the “Black Family” and as Campaign Manager in the 2010 Students’ Union elections.
Furthering his education, he earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM).
A loyal and active member of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Honourable Ibrahim Sannoh served as Personal Assistant to Dr. Kadie Sesay, the 2012 Presidential running mate to then-candidate Julius Maada Bio. His professional journey also includes experience in the private sector, holding roles such as Business Developer for Trans Sahara, engagements with Peninsular Innovative Group, and later as CEO of Favour Investment.
In 2017, he contributed strategically as Outreach and Planning Coordinator during the successful nationwide campaign of President Julius Maada Bio.
In September 2018, he was appointed Deputy Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA), and in less than two years of exemplary service, he was promoted to Executive Director.
Sannoh also served as Director of Programs in the office of the President at State House.
Following the 2023 general elections, Honourable Sannoh was appointed Deputy Minister of Communications, Technology and Innovation, a position he held diligently until his recent elevation to the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
Honourable Ibrahim Sannoh is happily married to Mrs. Helena Suad Sannoh of Mange Bureh, Northern Sierra Leone and they have five children altogether. They are devout Christian.
