Sierra Leone DJs Union Forms National Board of Unity

A historic step toward strengthening the entertainment sector was taken on August 10 at the Cage Night Club, where the Sierra Leone DJs Union officially constituted its National Board of Unity.

The newly formed board is made up of 14 members representing various regions and sectors of the DJ community. At the helm, Uncle Sankara has been appointed National Executive Chairman, with Izzie I serving as Deputy Chairman.

The board’s primary mission is to improve the welfare and professional standing of DJs across Sierra Leone, ensuring fair representation, better working conditions, and opportunities for growth. Members emphasized that unity within the industry will foster greater collaboration and recognition for the role DJs play in the nation’s cultural and entertainment landscape.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Uncle Sankara expressed optimism about the future:

This is more than just a leadership change — it’s a new era for Sierra Leone’s DJs. We are committed to advocacy, innovation, and giving our DJs the respect they deserve.”*

The occasion drew prominent figures from the music and entertainment community, marking it as a pivotal moment in the union’s history. With the establishment of this board, the Sierra Leone DJs Union aims to amplify its voice and solidify its influence within the broader creative industry.
