The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has announced the postponement of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) lower-level elections due to allegations of tampering with the delegate list.
In a formal letter addressed to the SLPP, the PPRC stated that the postponement follows the publication of the party’s executive lists for the elections.
The Commission said it received multiple petitions contesting these lists, with allegations that they have been altered, leading to the omission and replacement of individuals who had legitimately won in earlier stages of the electoral process.
According to the PPRC, the institution has commences a full investigation into the matters raised in the petitions, adding that due to the issues raised they have no alternatives but to postponed the elections.
They also noted that the SLPP will soon harmonize the confused delegates’ lists afterwards they will announced a new date for the recommencement of the lower level elections.
