The National Publicity Secretary of Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Moses Sellu Mambu has disclosed that SLPP Members of Parliament will soon face disciplinary actions for recently chanting the “Cocoa Roast” song in the Well of Parliament allegedly against the First Lady, Madam Fatima Bio.
According to Moses Sellu Mambu, the hierarchy of the party has recently launched an internal investigation into the recent behavior of SLPP MPs and that those that will be indicted will face serious penalties, using the new constitutional provision of the party.
He furthered that the said investigation would unearth what actually went wrong that day and whether or not it was actually orchestrated by the party leadership in parliament.
The SLPP mouthpiece further reiterated that at the conclusion of the investigation the party leadership will take appropriate actions as according to him, “the SLPP is not a ghetto.”
It could be recalled that the provocative song, ‘Cocoa Roast Oh’ was first chanted at the Bintumani International Conference Centre, Aberdeen during the last day of the National Delegates’ Conference of the SLPP. It was later heard in the Well of Parliament on Tower Hill, during the recent State Opening of Parliament. The singing of the Cocoa Roast song apparently coincided with the ushering in of the First Lady to her seat that day; suggesting that it was directed at her.
The first lady has since raised grave concern over the issue and had also named names of senior SLPP members, she believes orchestrated that drama in Parliament.
