In is declaration of intent ahead of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalist (SLAJ) election tomorrow, Edward Marah made it clear that his candidacy is grounded in both purpose and passion. “For me, this is a call to service,” he affirms, as he outlines his vision to reinvigorate the SLAJ Secretariat with P-R-I-D-E: Productivity, Respectability, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence.
As former SLAJ National Publicity Secretary and longstanding contributor to the association’s national development, Marah promises a committed, proactive presence at the Secretariat, pledging to work collaboratively with the President and Executive at both national and regional levels.
From his humble beginnings as a cub reporter with Weekend Spark Newspaper in 2001, to founding The Informant Media;a dynamic media consortium—Edward Marah’s trajectory in Sierra Leonean journalism is marked by service, resilience, and an unwavering ethical compass. His résumé includes stints with Standard-Times Newspapers and Star Radio, and leadership roles in various professional media bodies.
His executive experience spans: Public Affairs Secretary, SLAJ, Secretary General, Network of African Journalists (NAJ). PRO, HIV/AIDS Reporters Association and PRO, Sierra Leone Reporters Union.

He has been instrumental in SLAJ’s decentralization, fostering regional inclusiveness and creating pathways for grassroots journalists across the country.
