A delegation from the World Bank and the Sierra Leone Digital Transformation Project (SLDTP) on Wednesday, 09/04/2025, gave a comprehensive update to the Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas on the digitalization of the Parliament of Sierra Leone. The delegation told the Speaker of Sierra Leone Parliament that they have done the procurement process, signed contract for the commencement of work for the digitalization of Sierra Leone Parliament Project funded by the World Bank.
According to the team of experts, after fruitful implementation, the e-Parliament solution will digitize and transform the core functions of Sierra Leone Parliament into paperless approach and to move the Businesses of the House from traditional manual system to a digital operation, reduce parliamentary administrative running cost such as stationeries, toners, fuel consumptions etc, save time, reduce excessive Human Resource energy and will produce accurate and easily accessible parliamentary documents for MP’s.
The delegation informed the Speaker that, the e-Parliament will also make Parliament more open, transparent, accessible and caters for Citizens participation.
PAC GIVES SEVEN DAYS ULTIMATUM TO MNOs AND ISPs
Following its continued public hearings on queries raised in the Auditor General’s Report for 2023, the Public Accounts Committee, chaired by the Deputy Speaker of Sierra Leone Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, today Wednesday 09/04/2025, heard officials from the Universal Access Development Fund (UADF) and gave a seven-day ultimatum to Internet Service Providers and Mobile Network Operators including Orange, Africell, Qcell, Zoodlabs, Metro Cable, and K3 to submit their audited financial statements to the Public Accounts Committee.
It required by law to submit documents to the Public Accounts Committee during the course of executing her constitutional madate, failing which is deemed contemptible by Parliament.
Upon submitting their audited financial statements, the actual calculations will be done for purposes of deducting the actual sums that are payable to the government as required by law.
