Youths in Mambolo Chiefdom, particularly from the Rokel community in the Matatie Section, have expressed growing dissatisfaction over the sluggish pace of a road construction project intended to link the Rokel and Kalankay communities.
The prolonged delay in completing the project, along with the blockage of natural water flow caused by ongoing works, has severely impacted rice farming in the area, resulting in poor agricultural yields.
Silcon Road Construction, the company contracted for the project, has reportedly been working on the road for over two years without providing any updates or justifications for the delay. The lack of communication has further fueled frustration among residents.
As the situation escalates, local youth are calling on relevant authorities and stakeholders to intervene and hold Silcon Road Construction accountable. They are demanding transparency and regular updates on the project’s status.
Residents of Rokel and the Paramount Chief of Mambolo Chiefdom have also voiced their disappointment with the company and are urging it to expedite the construction process to avoid further disruption to their livelihoods.
