Stats SL Launches Master Trainers’ Cartographic Training Ahead of Census 2026

Freetown, Sierra Leone_ Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL), in collaboration with the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has officially launched an intensive training program for Master Trainers as part of preparations for the 2026 Population and Housing Census.

The seven-day training workshop, held at Saphyre Court Hall in Freetown, brings together 54 Master Trainers who will be equipped with advanced skills in digital mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). These competencies are essential for the upcoming nationwide cartographic mapping exercise.

This critical phase ensures that every household and community across Sierra Leone is accurately captured. The data generated will serve as a cornerstone for reliable demographic and housing information, supporting evidence-based planning and sustainable national development.
