-Dr Ibrahim Bangura Urges Youths
The leading flagbearer aspirant of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr Ibrahim Bangura has recently urged young people in the party to take responsibility in order to take the APC to new heights and, by extension, regain State House, come 2028.
A good number of supporters and members of the APC believe that the young and charismatic politician is the man determined to beat the bookies ahead of the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC), slated for 2026.
In a snap interview with The Exclusive, Dr Ibrahim Bangura reminded young people of the party’s ideology ahead of the APC Youth Congress scheduled to take place in Bo town from the 30thMay-1st July 2025, stressing that, as future leaders, they should focus on issues that foster progress and development in the party.
According to Dr Ibrahim Bangura, when there are obstacles to young people participating in formal and institutionalized political processes, they can feel disempowered, adding that many tend to believe that their voices are not going to be heard or that they will not be taken seriously even if they are in the forefront of party activities. He therefore called on
young peopleto stand up for APC as they are the future of the party and that Sierra Leone is in their hands.
He further urged the APC youths to avoid issues that retrogress the party and come up with progressive ideas and initiatives that will drive change in not only the APC but the country in general. He called on young people to embrace peace, stressing that disunity among members and supporters could leave them skating on thin ice.
Dr Ibrahim Bangura also disclosed that at age 15, he formed ‘The Rising Sun’ a movement of young minds, comprising children of the APC committed to carrying the torch. He furthered that by the year 2000, he was at university where he established and led the APC Student Movement. He further disclosed that he invited Ernest Bai Koroma to Fourah Bay College (FBC) in 2002 to campaign, and he became President in 2007.
Meanwhile, Dr Ibrahim Bangura is among host of senior APC members invited as guest at the APC Youth Congress in Bo town.
